Play Like Bob Foundation

Play Like “BOB” Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3).

On September 24, 2018, ten-year-old Aubrey “Bob” Dylan Reel was tragically lost in a car accident. She was very athletic, artistic and a messy-haired child that was full of life. She flipped and somersaulted everywhere she went. She showed love, kindness, respect, responsibility, caring, honesty, perseverance, self-discipline, citizenship, fairness, and courage. The Play Like “BOB” Foundation was created in her memory.

Every year, the Play Like “BOB” Foundation will award a scholarship to a fifth-grade student that exhibits the above-mentioned character traits. The Play Like “BOB” Foundation awarded its first scholarship on May 21, 2019. The scholarship is to be used for education or a trade school after the recipient graduates high school. The funds will be issued to the institution of choice at that time.

We sincerely thank you for taking the time to read about the Play Like “BOB” Foundation. 100% of all donations are and will be used to further the higher education of children in Hamilton County, TN.

Play Like “Bob” Foundation Scholarship Speech

Good evening parents, teachers, and graduating fifth grade students of Lookout Valley Elementary School. It is my bittersweet privilege to be the presenter of the Play Like “BOB” Scholarship.
This scholarship is given in the memory of Aubrey Dylan Reel who we tragically lost in a car accident on September 24, 2018 leaving a huge and unfillable hole not only in her family and friends hearts, but also in the community of Lookout Valley. She will be forever missed but never forgotten. Although our hearts are broken, we have seen many good things come to life out of this tragic event. One is this scholarship that will be given out in her memory to a fifth grader each year.
The Play Like “BOB” scholarship is in the amount of $3,000. The money will stay with the foundation until the child graduates high school at which time the funds will be paid to the college of their choice.

How was the child chosen?

Each fifth grader had the opportunity to write an essay on the following “How has the coronavirus changed your home life and school? How can my action help or hurt these changes? How has coronavirus taught you to be responsible for others and how has the virus changed the way I think about my life?” Each essay was assigned a number or letter so that the writer’s identity would not be revealed. A panel from the Play Like “Bob” Foundation read each essay and picked what they considered to be the top choices. These essays were given to the principal and fifth grade teachers who then chose the child whom they felt best exemplified respect, responsibility, caring, honesty, perseverance, self-discipline, citizenship, fairness and courage.
